A team from @TeamRubicon, a disaster recovery volunteer group of mostly veterans and first responders, worked in Eureka for 30 days assisting with flood recovery and sleeping in a church basement. About 98 team members rotated through for one-week shifts, with the last group heading back to their homes around the country on Memorial Day.
MARC Success Story
This photo was chosen because it shows a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) success story. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and Catholic Charities teamed up to provide a replacement refrigerator for flood survivor Edward Powell of Ellington, Mo., who had attended a MARC and explained his critical need for a refrigerator so he could have access to insulin.
Documents replaced by MO Department of Agriculture
Darrell Pratte, Missouri Department of Agriculture, delivered over 1,400 survey records to Pauline Peterman, Carter County Recorder, to replace documents destroyed in the flood. Some documents date back to the 1880s and preserve the county’s property line development. Surveys establish land corners, which are dependable references for identifying property boundaries.

A public health nurse from the St. Louis County Health Department administers a tetanus vaccine. Following the flooding, the Department of Health and Senior Services coordinated the distribution of more than 2,200 doses of tetanus vaccine to flood-affected areas.
Recovery efforts in St. Louis and Carter Counties
AmeriCorps has deployed crews to St. Louis County and Carter County, which are working in tandem with the Missouri Community Service Commission and local organizations through United Way 211 to coordinate services.

The last of 15 MARCs was open Thursday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. in Arnold (Jefferson County). During the past 11 days, a total of 15 MARCs served more than 1,100 Missouri families impacted by flooding. In the immediate aftermath of a disaster, MARCs provide crucial assistance to survivors as they take their first steps toward recovery.
