After being inundated with four feet of water, Doniphan’s joint city hall, police and fire department building has been renovated to better protect against flooding. It now houses the fire department exclusively. Permanent structures still need to be built to house police and city hall.

Hundreds of miles of gravel roads across Missouri were washed away in the historic spring 2017 flooding. This April 16, 2018 State Emergency Management Agency inspection photo documents a gravel road replacement project in Morgan County funded in part by FEMA.

In mid-September 2017, after enduring two floods in 18 months, Eureka High School Gym A reopened and was in use by students once again. It was broken in with a with a volleyball game.

FEMA Corps team members at the Missouri disaster recovery Joint Field Office in Jefferson City collect canned goods donated by FEMA staffers for the “Feds Feed Families Campaign,” which seeks to help stock food banks and pantries. FEMA’s local effort, which runs through Aug. 31, will support food banks and centers in the area.

Department of Corrections’ offenders in the Restorative Justice Program at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking recently made and donated three quilts to SEMA to help with the long-term flood recovery effort. FEMA Corps’ Team Bayou 4 from Vicksburg, Miss., has spent the last two months assisting FEMA employees in the Jefferson City disaster recovery Joint Field Office. Each member of the six-person team has a vital role to play within the JFO Planning Section.
